David Kanara

David "Dave" Edward Kanara, age 98 of Montello passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield. Dave was born in Chicago on December 5, 1917 to Edward and Pearl (Traynor) Kanara. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy. On October 5, 1940, Dave married Leota McGinn in Forest Park, IL and together they lived and worked in the Glen Ellyn, IL area before moving to Montello in the mid 1980's. Leota preceded Dave in death on April 21, 2006.

Dave was one to help anyone in need, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a devout member of the catholic faith and his church St. John the Baptist in Montello. His church family was also very important to him. Dave was a sports fan and enjoyed exercising, especially bicycling. He will be greatly missed. Dave leaves behind two sons: David Michael (Susan) of Winfield, IL and Gary of South Carolina as well as 2 grandchildren: Shane (Elaine) and Marilee. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Jacob and brother, Kenneth (Audrey) and Sister, Lucille "Peggy" Jensen as well as other nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dave is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Pamela and sister, LaVerne "Dolly" (Gene) Adams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for David on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Father Pallraj Sellam will celebrate the mass and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 277 E. Montello Street, Montello, WI 53949.
