Mary Campion

Mary Lou Campion, age 83 of Montello passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Mary was born in Portage on June 8, 1933 to Joseph and Thelma (Hagensen) Sullivan. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and Portage High School. Mary was united in marriage to Maurice Campion on October 24, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portage and from that union they were blessed with eleven children. Maurice preceded Mary in death on December 29, 1987. Mary was a very giving person. She and her husband owned and operated Buffalo Lake Lodge for over 25 years. Mary was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello, St. Ann's Altar Society and was also a charter member and 1st President of the Montello Lioness Club. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling, canoeing, crocheting as well as quilting. Mary felt very fortunate for her relationship with her four sisters as well as all the traveling she and Maurice were able to do and for the love of her family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Mary is survived by ten children: Mona (Dave) Matijevich of Packwaukee, Peggy (Matt) Marchand of Portage, Mike (Peggy) of Montello, Mary Alice (Ray) O'Donnell of Portage, John of Montello, Loretta (Mike) Corning of Portage, Charlotte (John) Hoffmann of Montello, Charles (Tessie) of Las Vegas, NV, Richard (Paula) of Fisher, IN and Patrick (Traci) of Montello. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David (Melissa) Matijevich, Peter (Erin) Matijevich, Audrey Wooster, Steven (Ashley) Marchand, Timothy Marchand and Christopher (Karla) Marchand, Addie Campion and Siah (Darrnell) Campion, Ann O'Donnell, Mathias Hoffmann, Philip (Emily) Hoffmann and Alex Hoffmann, Mauri Jean (Kyle) Prouty, Aaron Campion, Brianna Campion, Tiffany Campion and Grace Campion. Mary is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren and five sisters: Marie Brandt, Vivian (Floyd) Wasson, Joan Wilson, Alta (Phil) Wheeler and Marie Sullivan as well as two brothers: Bob (Jeannette) Sullivan and Jim (Carol) Sullivan and sister-in-law: Fae Williamson. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Maurice, son, Thomas and grandsons: Joey Campion and Jack Stalker as well as brother, Jerry Sullivan and brothers-in-law, Jim Wilson and Howard Brandt. A Mass of Christian Burial for May Lou Campion will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 12:00 noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church. Father Paulraj Sellam and Msgr. John Hebl will celebrate the Mass together and following the Mass she will be inurned at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Montello. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Mary Lou's name.
