Frieda Leona Otto, age 98 of Montello passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at Joanie’s Home in Montello.  Frieda was born on August 12, 1920 to Albert and Mathilda (Walner) Otto at home in the town of Mecan, Marquette County.  She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Mecan where she became a lifelong member.  Her musical talents led her to serve as organist for more than 45 years at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. 

Frieda was employed at Montello Products for many years, retiring as a foreman.  She traveled extensively throughout both the United Stated and Europe.  Frieda loved crochet and also spent many hours working on puzzles.  Her faith and family were very important to her; Frieda will be greatly missed.

Frieda is survived by her nephews: Edwin Fredrick of Neenah, John (Mary) Otto of Montello and Mark (Margaret) Otto of Rhinelander as well as great-nephews: Matt Otto, Bruce, Paul and Carl Fredrick and one great-niece, Cindy (James) Guthrie.  She is also survived by other extended family members and friends.

Frieda is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Edwin Otto and Victor (Leona) Otto and sister, Adeline (Walter) Fredrick as well as niece, Marlene Fredrick, nephew, Lloyd (Harriet) Fredrick and godchild and great-niece, Janice Nelson.

A funeral service for Frieda Otto will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel (Big Mecan) Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Pete Zietlow will preside and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Frieda’s name are preferred to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church for The New Hymnal Project. 

The family wishes to thank both Joanie’s Home and Agnesian Hospice Hope for the care they gave to Frieda.
