Adeline Zacharias

Adeline Augusta Zacharias, age 100 of Princeton passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at The Barrett House in Markesan.  Adeline was born at home in Marquette, Green Lake County on November 28, 1921 to Frank and Emma (Zarbrook) Kresel.  She married John Zacharias February 27, 1938 and together raised three daughters on their dairy farm in Little Mecan.  In 1971, John and Adeline moved to the city of Princeton.  John preceded Adeline in death on June 26, 1999. 

Adeline worked at the canning factory in Markesan, later as a seamstress at Sands Knitting in Berlin and lastly at the American Baptist Assembly.  She has been a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton.  Adeline enjoyed traveling and spending time with her flowers, garden and fruit trees in her backyard.  She loved to make homemade jelly for family members and friends and always had her miniature schnauzer by her side.  Adeline enjoyed visits from her family and was well loved and will be dearly missed.

Adeline is survived by her three daughters:  Eileen Wirth of Lannon, Karen Shimetz of Delafield and Joanne Spoerl of Campbellsport as well as eight grandchildren: Kathy (Ronald), Anthony (Connie), Martin (Karen), Jennifer, Heather, Chris (Tara) and Michelle (Ralph).  She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Adeline is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons-in-law: Charles Wirth, Thomas Shimetz and Robert Spoerl, grandson, Jason and her four sisters: Sadie, Ella, Emma and Claire.

A funeral service for Adeline Zacharias will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.  Rev. John Stelter will officiate and burial will follow at Trinity (Little Mecan) Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Mecan, Marquette County. 

The family would like to thank all the neighbors and friends who helped Adeline while she stayed in her home.
