Auguste Matt

Auguste Elizabeth Matt, age 91 of Oxford passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at her home. Auguste was born in Borjad, Hungry to Janos and Auguste (Ritzel) Jordan on August 19, 1935.

She married James Matt in Wiesbaden, Germany on March 23, 1957 and together they were blessed with three children. Jim and Auguste moved many times following Jim’s military career. They returned to Milwaukee in 1975 and relocated to Oxford in 1990; he preceded her in death on February 26, 2026.

Auguste is survived by three children: Elizabeth Strickland of Packwaukee, James Jr. (Christine) of Rhinelander, and John of Las Vegas, NV as well as three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Zane), Sarah (Adrian) and Andrew (Rachel). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Mea, Riley, Nova and Kora and her sister, Ida (Wolfgang) Fuller, sister-in-law, Marianna Jordan and other extended family members.

Auguste is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Alfred (Marianna) Jordan.

Auguste will be laid to rest privately next to her husband at Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee.
