Barbara Jean Clauson, age 81 of Montello, passed away on July 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her daughter Rhonda and her beloved niece, Brenda Schroeder. Born on April 1, 1945, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Daniel and Gracie (Robinson) Manes. Her life was defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Barbara was a devoted mother with a compassionate heart who consistently placed others before herself. She found joy in cooking, especially her famous Christmas cookies, which became a treasured family tradition. No meal was complete without dessert, and no cake was ever served without ice cream. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Barbara rarely missed a game, and her family takes comfort in imagining her still cheering them on each Sunday. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she treasured every moment with her family. Whether preparing meals, celebrating holidays, or simply bringing loved ones together, she made every gathering meaningful. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit created a home where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters: Rhonda (William) Kaenel of Montello and Michelle (Fred) Potter of Delavan; her grandchildren: Travis Kaenel, Brooke (Jessiah) Klawitter, Teale Keipe, Addie (Elias) Garcez-Potter, Mackenzie Turner, Shania Turner, Shane (Michaela) Turner, and Thomas Kaenel as well as her great-grandchildren: Scarlett and Sebastian. She is also survived by her special nephew, Jay Turner.

Barbara is further survived by her brother, Daniel (Judy) Manes; her sister, Shirley Corral and sister-in-law, Barbara Jacobson. Lastly she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will remember her for her kindness and love.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, son, Scott Turner and infant son, Jack Turner Jr.; and her siblings: Billie Benedict, Leroy Benedict, and Bonnie Hermansen.

Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She taught those around her the importance of love and compassion, and her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the memories she created.

A graveside service for Barbara will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She will be laid to rest next to her parents. A celebration of life luncheon will follow the graveside service.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving soul.
