Bernard Giese

Bernard 'Bernie' Francis Giese, age 89 of rural Montello passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. Bernie was born on the family farm in Shields Township, Marquette County on August 24, 1923 to Theodore 'Ted' and Catherine Giese. He graduated from Montello High School and later married Leona Sweda in Chicago, IL at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church on September 24, 1960. She preceded him in death in July of 2001. Bernie farmed his entire life on the family farm in Shields Township. He also worked as a machinist at Berlin-Chapman Foundry for ten years. Bernie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Montello and the Knights of Columbus. He also was an active member of the Harrisville Lions Club. Bernie is survived by his son, John of Montello and many dear friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, wife and his one brother, Larry. Private services were held.
