Brian Haselow

Brian K. Haselow, age 67 of Montello, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on August 25,2026 after a brave and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Brian was born July 11, 1959 to Raymon and Ruth (Becker) Haselow in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brian was the second born of four sons. His nickname growing up was Beepers, a name he received from his Uncle Jim. While growing up, Brian enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding, driving his Harley's, and taking wildlife pictures. On weekends, his family would go to their Cottage on Beaver Dam Lake. This is the place where he would end up meeting his best friend, Jeff “Jazbo” Stathas at age 10 and would spend many years duck hunting, fishing, trapping, deer hunting and working on farms.

At age 15, Brian learned the trade of welding from his Uncle Donald who was a pipeline

welder. After graduating in 1978 from Bay View High School in Milwaukee, Brian went into the welding field and would spend the next 30+ years dedicating his life to the craft. He took much pride in his work. Brian loved working with his hands. When he wasn’t at work, he would make things on the side for friends and family. In December of 2021, he retired from Metalcraft of Mayville.

In 1991and 1993, Brian welcomed two daughters: Felicia and Anna. In Brian’s words, “they are the best thing to ever happen to me.” In 1992, Brian moved to Montello where he would spend the rest of his life. He was a member of the Montello Rod and Gun and Montello Bow Benders for many years. During his free time, he introduced his love for the outdoors to his daughters and got them into hunting and fishing as well. He traveled all over the state of Wisconsin with his daughters to shoot sporting clays, trap, 5-stand, skeet, and archery. He also made a couple trips to North Dakota and Canada to go duck hunting.

In 2012, Brian bought his first motorcycle since the 1980’s. Recently he got his 250,000-mile patch, an achievement he was very proud of. Above everything, being on his bikes was his favorite hobby and passion in life. He loved being on the open road, it was his happy place; In June 2018, he met the love of his life, Carole (Saylor) they began dating shortly after. They bonded over their love of motorcycles and road trips. After many trips and memories, Carole was taken away from Brian in January 2022. That was a heartbreak he never got over.

In 2018, Brian got promoted to his favorite title, Grandpa and then again in 2020 and 2025. His grandson’s brought him an immeasurable amount of love and happiness.

Brian is remembered for his witty sense of humor, his infectious smile, his contagious laugh, his hard work, his dedication to his family, his loyalty to his loved ones, and his tremendous strength. He had a presence that could fill a room.

Brian is survived by his mother, Ruth Haselow, daughters: Felica (Jake) Kleinowski and Anna (Mike) Haselow and grandsons: Winston, Hudson, and Beckett. He is also survived by his brothers: Ray (Kris), Kevin (Connie), and Bruce (Alex) as well as nieces: Jen, Jess, Jacqui, and Brittany and nephew, Nick (Claire). Brian is further survived by his great niece and nephews, many other family members and countless others whose lives he has touched through the years.

Brian is preceded in death by his father, Raymon, girlfriend, Carole “Dippy” Saylor,

best friend, Jeff “Jazbo” Stathas, uncle, James “Jim” Haselow and aunts: Kathleen “Kiki” Haselow and Patricia Tehan.

Papa Smurf until we meet again, may the hunting be good, the fish always biting, and the open road never end. Love you forever and always your daughters Chunka and Hoot.
