Britt Pope

Britt Viola Pope , age 98 of Oswego, IL and formerly of Montello passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Naperville, Illinois.  Britt was born in Halmstad, Sweden on April 23, 1920 to Enoch and Olga (Johnson) Swanson.  She came to the United States in 1928 and graduated as valedictorian of her class from Bessemer High School in Bessemer, Pennsylvania.  She was the Pennsylvania State Champion in typing and stenography.  Britt married Arthur Pope on December 3, 1946 in Bessemer; he preceded her in death on May 24, 2001.

Together they moved to Montello in 1982 and lived on Buffalo Lake and only recently did she relocate to Illinois to be closer to her family.  She enjoyed playing scrabble as well as fishing.

Britt is survived by her children: David (Frances) of Arlington Heights, IL and Sheila (Ronald) Juvingo of Oswego as well as three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by several extended family members.

A funeral service for Britt Pope will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at Buffalo Community Bible Church, W4090 14th Road, Montello, WI 53949.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the hour of service at the church.  Pastor Thomas Grey will officiate and burial will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery, town of Buffalo.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 348, Warrenton, MO  63383.  Designation: Benjamin Larson.
