Burton Nikoley

July 23, 1929 — July 29, 2017

Burton "Burt or Fuzz" M. Nikoley passed away on July 29, 2017 at Harris Villa in Westfield at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lila Nikoley, his beloved wife of 30 years, Arlene (Flashberger), and younger sister, Donna Bender. He is survived by his loving wife, Inge and his three cherished children: Brian (Lynn) Nikoley, Bonnie (Carl) Fuggiasco, and Vickie Nikoley. He was the proud Grandfather of Andrew "A.J." and Alex Nikoley, and big brother of Robert (Ilene) Nikoley and Judi (Ray) Yance. He is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.

Burt was born on July 23, 1929 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin and grew up on a farm. He attended Tony High School and upon graduation, traveled with his friends across the western United States until they were drafted. He served in the U.S. Army for three years as a heavy machine operator helping to build a landing strip on the island of Grand Turk off the coast of Florida. He then moved to Milwaukee as a young man, met and married Arlene, and together they raised their three children in Greenfield. Over the years, he worked in maintenance, trucking, and had his own landscaping business. A few years following Arlene's death, he took an early retirement, packed his bags, and moved to the family cabin in Montello (Emery Lake). Years later, Dad reunited with Inge, and shortly thereafter, they were married and shared 13 years together.

Burt will always be remembered as someone who could make or repair just about anything, as a carpenter, painter, electrician, and even a plumber. He really enjoyed fishing, especially trips to Northern Wisconsin with his siblings to catch big muskies. He took up snowmobiling as a new hobby in his later years, and stayed young while hanging out with his neighbors on Emery Lake.

Our family wishes to extend special thanks to Nan, Lindsay, and every "Susie" and "Jimmy" on the staff at Harris Villa, for taking care of Dad for nearly 4 years. And cheers to the real Jimmy, Jim Bennett, as your life-long friendship with our Dad has passed the test of time.

Funeral services for Burton Nikoley will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Chapel of the Angels (West Chapel) located in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 3801 W. Morgan Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53221. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In closing, as Dad used to say on his way out the door, "this is me leavin'!"
