Carol Haley

Carol Mae Haley, our beloved Nana, passed away peacefully March 5, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born to Harry and Mildred (James) Taft on November 13, 1939 at Adams-Friendship Hospital. Carol was raised on a farm outside of Oxford along with her three brothers: Eddie, Donnie and Harlan.  She raised her four daughters: Debra, Shari, Cindy and Laurie in Brooks, WI.  She was a strong, single Mother that loved her girls dearly.

Carol married John “Jack” Haley on September 6, 1980 and they shared twenty-four beautiful years together.   She worked as a certified nursing assistant taking care of her community in Oxford and at the Montello Care Center.  She was one of the first nursing assistants when Montello Care Center opened in the 1980's; Carol touched so many lives during her years caring for so many.  Her life was devoted to caring for the young to the very old.  When she wasn't caring for her residents, she was babysitting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren who all meant the world to our Nana. 

Carol is survived by her daughters: Debra (Randy) Smith, Cindy Waite and Laurie Hengen and her thirteen grandchildren along with thirty-nine great grandchildren which included her special "boys".   She is also survived by seventeen great-great-grandchildren as well as several other extended family members.  

Carol is preceded in death by her, parents, husband, Jack, daughter, Shari Weiss, grandson, Joseph Rengen, Jr. and her three brothers. 

A memorial service for Carol Haley will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello.   Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.  Pastor Mark Hensley will preside and private family inurnment will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee.
