Charlene Hoevel

Charlene S. Hoevel, age 68 of Portage and formerly of Montello passed away Wednesday evening, December 16, 2015 at UW-Hospital in Madison. Charlene was born in River Falls on December 20, 1946 to Clarence and Edna (Simon) Wasson. She graduated from Spring Valley High School and later married Henry "Sonny" Hoevel on September 10, 1966 in Spring Valley; they were blessed with two children. Sonny preceded her in death on November 24, 2014. Charlene loved to help anyone. She also enjoyed sewing, her dogs and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Charlene was a very devout member of the Catholic Faith and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Charlene leaves behind her two children: Tim (Jenny) Hoevel of Montello and Jodine (Scott) Lloyd of Portage as well as six grandchildren: Jon (Natalie) Lloyd, Caleb (Jade) Lloyd, Hunter (Hallie Bleich) Lloyd, Jacob (Jackie) Hoevel, Sara Hoevel and Rebecca Hoevel. She is also survived by six great grandkids: Dominick, Brock, Aubrey, Isabella, Cayden and Hank. Charlene is further survived by eight sisters and two brothers as well as many other relatives and friends. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, Steve. A Mass of Christian Burial for Charlene will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Father Tim Renz will preside and inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
