Charlotte Kolodziej

Charlotte D. Kolodziej, age 88 of Montello passed away Friday evening, February 15, 2013 at the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. Charlotte was born in Chicago on March 13, 1924 to Julius and Josephine (Molenaar) Hraha. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago and went to work as a bookkeeper in various banks in Illinois. She later married Stanley Kolodziej on October 12, 1945 in Blue Island, IL; he preceded her in death in September of 1988. Together she and Stanley retired to Montello in 1985 and it was only recently that she moved to Rockford to be closer family. Charlotte enjoyed sewing, scrap booking, quilting as well as reading. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, both of Montello. Charlotte loved living on Montello Lake and the many friends she had there. Charlotte is survived by her two sons: Chester (Sandra) of Rockford, IL and Charles of Manteno, IL as well as two grandchildren: Clinton (Jyoti) of Terra Haute, IN and Kerry of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte is also preceded in death by her brother, George Hraha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Father David Carrano will celebrate the mass and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Montello Public Library, P.O. Box 457, Montello, WI 53949.
