Dean Kohnke

Dean Ross Kohnke, age 65 of Montello passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Montello Care Center surrounded by his family under the care of Heartland Hospice. Dean was born in Ripon on June 22, 1952 to Ross and Phyllis (Rozek) Kohnke. He graduated from Montello High School in 1970 and married Beverly Barganz on November 28, 1971; together they were blessed with two children. Dean retired after 42 years of employment from Frontier (formerly GTE and Verizon) Communications in 2013. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Dean was also known as: Bumpa, Uncle Grumpy and Beaner. He loved spending time with his family and friends at his cottage up north. Dean leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Bev and two children: Tami (Dan) Carlson of Pardeeville and Jason (Jennifer) of Montello as well as four grandchildren: Logan, Keyera, Saydee and Klay. He is also survived by his mother, Phyllis, mother-in-law, Blanche Barganz and three siblings: Bradd (Kathy), Susan Kohnke and Scott (Tammy) as well as his other Bro, Dennis Schwanke. Dean is further survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to his father, Dean is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mike Barganz, uncle Bob and aunt Rachel Teske and aunt Katie Metcalf . A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Chaplin David Brynelson will preside and inurnment will be private.
