Dolores Karolus

Dolores Gertrude Karolus, age 92 of Oxford passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Dekalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in Dekalb, Illinois.  Dolores was born on December 7, 1930 to Atle and Mable (Wall) Pearson in Carpentersville, IL.  She graduated from Dundee Community High School in Dundee, IL and married Richard Karolus at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dundee on February 24, 1951; together they were blessed with five children.  Richard preceded Dolores in August of 2008.

Dolores took care of her family and also worked as a nurse’s assistant which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She and Richard moved to rural Oxford in 1989 and enjoyed spending time in nature, gardening as well as canning.  Dolores was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford.  She will be remembered for her family meals, cooking and baking and the love she had for her family.

Dolores is survived by three sons: Mark (Donna) of Cleveland, WI, Adam (Julie) of Dekalb, IL and Dale of Wonder Lake, IL as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her son-in-law, Barry Phillips, brother, Ken (Carol) Pearson and other extended family members.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Nancy Phillips, son, Kyle and five siblings.

A funeral service for Dolores Karolus will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  Pastor Larry Sheppard will preside and burial will follow at the Oxford Village Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 E. Vallette Street, Oxford, WI 53952.
