Don Walters Jr.

Don “Donnie” F. Walters Jr., age 70 of Montello passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Ripon Community Hospital.  Donnie was born on April 16, 1953 to Don and Wanda (Klingburg) Walters Sr. in Beloit.   He was a member of the 1971 graduating class of Montello High School.  Donnie married Janice McChesney and together they had two children and later divorced.   

Donnie was a skilled carpenter, he owned and operated Don Walters Builders for many years.   He was known being the “fastest man on ice” winning many ice races around the state.  In 1989, Donnie began racing late model stock cars at Dells Motor Speedway; he also enjoyed snowmobiling as well as attending and showing his classic cars.   He liked his trips to the casino.   Donnie will be remembered for sense of humor and outlook on life.

Donnie is survived by his son, Guy (Renee) of Montello and grandchildren: Matthew and Andrea’.  He is also survived by two sisters: Sylva Snow of Westfield and Brenda Kemnitz of Montello as well as life partner of 21 years, Lauralie Blader and many other extended family members.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Erika and brother-in-law, John Snow.

A memorial service for Don Walters Jr. will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  Rev. Mike Vargo will preside and inurnment will take place at a later date at Underhill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee.
