Dorothy Klawitter

February 9, 1938 — July 24, 2017

Dorothy Klawitter, age 79 of Montello passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 24, 2017 at her home. She was born on February 9, 1938 in Portsmouth, OH to Charles and Dolly (Carr) Craft and later was adopted by Matilda and Abram Adam Bowman. On June 12, 1976 she married Henry "Heinie" Klawitter in Montello and worked together in their construction business. Henry preceded Dorothy in death on June 6, 2005.

Dorothy was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello and enjoyed: quilting, crocheting, knitting, deck gardening and her grandson's dog, Hemi and most of all spending time with her family. She was grateful for Jesse; all the care and concern he showed toward her since the passing of Grandfather Henry.

Survivors include: daughter, Debra Krueger of Wisconsin Rapids, grandchildren: Heidi (Andy) Crotty of Pardeeville and Jessiah (Brooke) Klawitter of Montello and two great-grandchildren, DaKotah and Kelby Crotty. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings: Hazel Scott, Shirley Craft and Rosalie Daniels. She is further survived by brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carolyn "Tootie"(Wayne) Lammert, June Klawitter, Dennis (Bonnie) Klawitter and Judith Klawitter. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Dorothy in death are her husband, Henry and both her biological and adopted parents and siblings: Homer (Pam) Craft, Mary Louise Reed, Irene (John) Reed, Kenneth Craft, Arthur Craft, Alfred (Dotty) Craft, Audrey (Stanley) Bivens, Louis Craft, Laura Craft and Judy Craft. Also preceding Dorothy in death are her father-in-law, Herbert (Margaret) Klawitter and brothers-in-law, Herbert Jr. "Bud" Klawitter, Ronald Klawitter, Kim Klawitter, who was like a son to her and her canine companion, Misty.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will officiate and burial will follow at the Montello City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Dorothy's name.
