Edith Duesterhoeft

Edith Marie Duesterhoeft, age 94 of Montello passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026 at The Residences on Forest Lane in Montello. She was born on December 3, 1931 to William and Leona (Welke) Buchholz. Edith was baptized on December 27, 1931 and confirmed on April 29, 1945. She was a 1949 graduate of Montello High School and on August 14, 1955 and was united in marriage to Paul Duesterhoeft at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Walter Oelhafen. Paul preceded Edith in death on February 23, 2011.

Edith has been a life-long member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello; serving as a member of the Ladies Aid and attending bible class for many years. Early in her career she was employed at the Marquette County ASCS office and later served as secretary for the Marquette County Farm Bureau – Rural Insurance office in Montello.

Survivors include one son, Kurt Duesterhoeft, one special grandson, Jakob Kruger, one sister, Sharon Anderson, one son-in-law, James Kruger, along with nieces and a nephew.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters: Kay Lynn and Lori Jean, daughter, Susan Kruger, brothers-in-law: Richard Anderson and John (Caroline) Duesterhoeft, and a nephew.

A funeral service for Edith Duesterhoeft will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Bruce Hanneman will preside and burial at Eastside Cemetery will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Little Lambs Preschool, 313 E. Montello Street, Montello, WI 53949.
