Edna Ritchie

Edna Lillian Ritchie, age 104 of Montello passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013 at Harris Villa in Westfield. She was born in Montello to Seth and Alvina (Nickel) Cummings on August 23, 1908. Edna was baptized at Trinity United Methodist Church that same year and went on to graduate from Montello High School in 1924; following high school she attended the Oshkosh Business College. She married Edwin Ritchie in Rockford, IL on November 16, 1930; he preceded her in death in July of 1976. Edna loved music and played the organ and piano for seven different churches throughout her life as well as at dances and silent movies in the area. She was the first stenographer at the Marquette County Courthouse, where she worked for many different departments. Edna was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Montello. She was able to live in her own home until she was 103 and she enjoyed the company of her many friends and those who looked after her. Edna leaves behind her daughter, Donna (Graydon Gray Sr.) Colton as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters: Lucy (Sam) Robinson, Evelyn (Gordon) Ritchie and Hazel (Ben) Herrick and two infant brothers. She is also preceded in death by many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Montello City Cemetery, Rev. Carol Herman will preside. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Crawford Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Harris Villa, N6581 Villa Parkway, Westfield, WI 53964.
