Edward Richards Sr

Edward "Ed" Harvey Richards Sr., age 88 of Montello passed away early Sunday morning, November 29, 2015 at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. Ed was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on August 7, 1927 to Frank and Anna (Selke) Richards. He graduated from Logan High School in La Crosse in 1945 and went on to serve his country as a member of the US Navy at the end of World War II. Ed married Rose Rita Jankowski on February 19th of 1949; she preceded him in death on December 3, 2005. Ed worked for the Fruit Ranch in Milwaukee for over 40 years and upon retirement in early 1990's he and Rose moved to Montello. He was an avid coin and zippo collector and was proud to show it to anyone. Ed enjoyed his trips to the casino and playing the slots. He was a proud and hardworking father and grandfather who loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. Ed is survived his four children: Cheryl Sorgi of Montello, Edward Jr. of Montello, Pamela (Robert) Colombo of Menomonee Falls and Paul (Melissa) of Freedom as well as ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Rose's family, nieces, nephews and many friends. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose and six siblings: Frank, Minerva, Helen, Irene, Evelyn and Robert. Following Ed's wishes, the family invites friends and relatives to an open house to celebrate his Life on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 1:00-5:00p.m. at Ed's Home, W2943 Fern Drive, Montello, WI 53949.
