Elaine Goodhue

Elaine Eva Goodhue, age 95 of Oxford passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Montello Care Center.  Elaine was born in New Haven Township, Adams County on September 2, 1927 to Arthur and Bernice (Johnson) Byers.  She married Sheldon Goodhue February on 22, 1947 at the Arthur Byers Farm.  They lived in Portage for two years, where she worked at Atkinson Department Store. They moved back to the Goodhue Farm in Douglas Township in 1949 where they actively farmed until 1975. She also worked at Badger Ordinance from 1967 to 1973, then Ray-O-Vac from 1973 until she retired in 1993.  Sheldon and Elaine moved to Oxford in 1989, where she lived until June of 2021.  Sheldon preceded Elaine in death on January 3, 1990.

Sheldon and Elaine were members of the Douglas Bible Church. After moving to Oxford and Sheldon's passing, Elaine started attending Oxford Bible Church.  She loved to fish, garden, watch and feed the birds as well as her Chihuahua dogs.

Elaine is survived by her son, Brian (Rita) Goodhue of Oxford, granddaughters: Dacia (Travis) Thomley of Portage and Dawn (Tom) Hockerman of Westfield as well as great-grandson, Henry Hockerman.  She is also survived by sister-in-law, Lana Byers of Verona, nephews and nieces.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Myron (Joan) Byers and Kenny Byers, niece, Rhonda Krueger as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.

A funeral for Elaine Goodhue will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM the Oxford Bible Church.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at the church.  Pastor Robert Stickler will preside and burial will follow at the Douglas Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Oxford Bible Church, 547 W. Ormsby Street, Oxford, WI 53952.
