Esther Matz

Esther May (Buchholz) Matz , age 106 passed peacefully at home in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 28, 2018.  She was born May 3, 1911 in the Township of Lafayette, Walworth County, Wisconsin to May Bessie (Ludtke) and Gustave Buchholz.  Esther grew up on her family's farm in the town of Mecan, Marquette County.  She married Alfred Matz on August 26, 1939.  They spent most of their married life in Illinois and settled in Libertyville. Esther was known for her love of gardening, roses and was an excellent homemaker and cook.  She had a joyful disposition and always remembered birthdays and special events with a card or thoughtful gesture.  She was preceded in death by her spouse, Alfred, her sisters: Hilda Fickel and Norma Jachtuber.  She is survived by her daughter, Joanne, brother, Willard, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Esther will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello.  Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  Pastor Pete Zietlow will officiate and Esther will be laid to rest at the Montello Eastside Cemetery following the service.
