George Bloom

February 8, 1919 — June 16, 2015

George E. Bloom, age 96 of Wautoma passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 16, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. George was born in Milwaukee on February 8, 1919. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Following his time in the service, on December 6, 1947 he married Bernadine Stachowiak in Milwaukee. George worked and lived in Milwaukee as salesman for many years; retiring at the age of 58 to the Wautoma area in 1977. Bernadine preceded him in death in 2001. George was an avid outdoorsman, especially fishing and hunting. He also loved to polka dance and had a story for everyone he met. George enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and the people of his church. He lived life to the fullest and he will be greatly missed. George is survived by his son, Michael (Sharon) of Neshkoro, nephew, Marc (Barb) Sellenheim of Wild Rose, step-son, Neil (Michelle) of Florida and two grandchildren: Tom (Cindy) Bloom of Montello and Nicole (fiancAC. Nick Cravillion) Pulvermacher of Neshkoro. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Bodie, Thomas and Sully as well as a great-niece, Betty. George is further survived by his very special friend, Joannie Scheffel and her children: Deb and Mary. George is preceded in death by his parents, wife and his siblings. A memorial service for George will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Church of Christ in Freemont. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pastor Alex Tychkin will preside and private family inurnment will take place at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hope United Church of Christ, 8950 Alpine Road, Freemont, WI 54940.
