Glenn Curtis Scott, age 65 of Montello passed away Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at his home. Glenn was born in Loves Park, IL to Harold and Norma (Calhoun) Scott on August 9, 1950. He graduated from Harlem High School and went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Navy. Glenn married Shirley (Carpentier) Sorenson on September 17, 1982 in Rockford and together they moved to Montello in 2001 permanently after purchasing there retirement home here in 1993.
Glenn loved to fish, play pool and work with wood. He was a member of the American Legion Post #351 in Montello. Glenn and Shirley owned and operated The Rustic Bar and Grill since 2008.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Shirley and one daughter, Dawn (Ryan) Follmer of St. Louis, MO and three step-children: Theresa (Larry) Liget of San Diego, CA, Richard Sorenson of Decorah, IA and Lori "Sue" Kennington of Montello. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Amanda (Darryl), Andrew (Momo), Misty (Dan), Brandy, Madison and Camden as well as eleven great-grandchildren. Glenn is further survived by his father, Harold "Scotty" and five sisters: Sandra, Donna (Gary), Cathy, Gail (Don) and Kay (Jeff) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Glenn is preceded in death by his mother and other extended family members. A visitation for Glenn will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. The visitation will conclude at 4:00 PM with full military honors by American Legion Post #351 of Montello. Visitation will also be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Machesney Park, IL on Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM and will be concluded with entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that is being established in Glenn's name.
