Harry Heyer

Harry John Heyer, age 78 of Oxford passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home. Harry was born in Milwaukee on April 7, 1936 to Harvey and Julia (Budzish) Heyer. He served his country as a member of both the United States Army and Navy. Following his time in the service, Harry lived in Phelps, WI and later to Land O Lakes, WI where worked as the maintenance foreman at the Gateway Hotel for many years. He married Sandra Holliday on October 30, 1982 and together they moved to Oxford in 1983. Harry enjoyed fishing and watching birds as well as baking, cooking and canning. He was a very talented carpenter and woodworker; building almost anything from homes to puzzles to signs that are displayed across the United States. Most of all, Harry loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and the many memories they made by spending time together will be cherished forever. Harry is survived by his wife, Sandra and five children: Nicole and Zachary Heyer, both of Oxford, Julie (Nathan) Epp, Norma (Steven) Humphery and Harry, all of Indiana. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as his brother, Donald (Delores) Heyer of Scottsdale, AZ. Harry is further survived by his cousin, Ronald (Fern) Frederick and former daughter-in-law, Jenny Heyer as well as many other relatives and dear friends. Harry is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Stasha Heyer and siblings: Fred, Evangeline, Marriane and Louise. A memorial service for Harry will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home of Oxford. The family will greet friends and relatives from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will officiate and inurnment will take place at a later date in the Oxford Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
