Ingwald E. Wegenke, age 93 of Montello passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Montello Care Center. Ingwald was born in Montello on November 18, 1921 the son of Erich and Alma (Draeger) Wegenke. He married Gertrude Otto on November 25, 1942. They had three sons; Warren, Rolf and one who died in infancy.

Ingwald served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and later worked for Montello Products and also as a builder. He served in office for St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church for nearly 40 years (most of those as Treasurer), 10 years as an alderman for the City of Montello, as chair of both the Montello Housing Authority and the Montello Industrial Development Commission and on the board of the Montello State Bank. Ingwald is survived by his wife of 73 years, Gertrude, son, Rolf (Karen), daughter-in-law, JoAnn as well as grandchildren: Lee, Matthew, Kari and Erich. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Marian and Nicolas as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends. Ingwald is preceded in death by his parents, sons: Warren and one in infancy and brother, Wallace "Hunk". A funeral service for Ingwald will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Peter Zietlow will officiate and burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello will take place at the Montello City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 313 E. Montello Street, Montello, WI 53949. "Well done good and faithful servant."
