John "Jack" Schwartz

John “Jack” Arthur Schwartz, age 81 of Middleton (formerly of Montello) passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  Jack was born at home in Montello on July 13, 1942 to Charles and Maude (Chivers) Schwartz.  He graduated from Montello High School in 1960 and furthered his education at UW- Stevens Point earning a bachelor’s degree.  Jack married Anna Jean Mlodzik in Dodgeville on January 28, 1967; together they were blessed with two children.  

Jack taught school for two years in Hollandale before returning to Montello to begin his career for Marquette County as a Social Worker; he retired from that same position 32 years later in 2000.  Jack and Anna Jean recently moved to Middleton to be closer to family.  He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and always followed the Brewers, Packers and Badgers.  Jack was very proud of his family and always looked forward to spending time with them.  He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, his hearty laugh at a good joke and his love for a tootsie roll or two. 

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna Jean and two children:  Boyd (Tiffaney) of Kenosha and Rachel (George) Abolins of Fitchburg and four grandchildren: Brant, Brice, Maija and Macy as well as two more bonus granddaughters: Ellexus and Sydney.  He also survived by a brother-in-law, Jerry (Maxine) Mlodzik, sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Schwartz and Cheryl Schwartz and other extended family members.  

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Milton (Marge), Myron (Margaret), Neoma (Robert) Schoewe, Robert and Duane “Dewey” and five nephews:  Mike, Jim, David, Richard, and Ronald.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for John “Jack” Schwartz will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  Father Savio Yerasani will preside and inurnment will follow at the parish cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to: Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
