James Holland

James "Jim" D. Holland, age 82 of Montello passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2013 at Metta Homes in Montello. Jim was born on January 16, 1931 in Chicago to Joseph and Clara (Jacobitz) Holland. He graduated from Fenger High School in 1949 and served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Jim married Dolores Gasner at St. Leo Catholic Church in Chicago on January 19, 1956 and from that union came five children. Jim worked for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Company as an engineer until moving to Wisconsin in 1973. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and also traveling with Dolores. Jim was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello and loved his family very much. Jim leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Dolores and five children: Jim of Cottage Grove, Tom (Vicki) of Portage, Dan of Montello, Cindy Pearson of Madison and John (Koreen) of Pardeeville as well as sixteen grandchildren: James, Jackie, June, Jenny, Becky, Joe, Dave, Jamie, Nate, Brandon, Brittney, Morgan, Rachel, Kyle, Danielle, Justin. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, a sister, Lorraine Wesse and other relatives. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Ryan, two brothers: Willard and Thomas and one sister, Ellamay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Father David Carrano will preside and burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. Crawford Funeral and Cremation Service of Montello and Oxford is honored to be serving the family. www.CrawfordFH.com
