Jeffery “Jeff” Jake Miko Smith, age 73 of Oxford passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at his home. Jeff was born at home in Prairie Du Chien on May 24, 1951 to Orla and Thelma (Ward) Smith. He attended Fennimore and Iowa-Grant Schools and went on to serve his country as member of the United States Army. Following his time in service, Jeff was employed at Kelly Tire in Lena, IL and finished his career after many years as an over-the-road truck driver. He was united in marriage at Mt. Zion Church in Platteville on September 18, 1993 to Christina “Chris” Stake and together they resided in the Platteville area until relocating to rural Oxford in 2005.
Jeff was very mechanically talented, some would call him a jack-of-all trades but he could fix or build just about anything. He loved to spend time with his family and always looked forward to a bonfire. He loved his dogs Bonzi and Shanzi. He was always willing to help out a friend, neighbor or stranger.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 31 years, Christina and three sons: Scott (Jess) of Capron, IL, Joe (Breanna) of Merrimac and J.J. of Wisconsin Dells as well as three grandchildren: Tezrian, Draven and Aurora. He is also survived by sister Jerlyn and nephew, John Smith and special friends: June (Ward) Schenck-Olin and Dave Hoffman.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Paulene, Jim, Arlene, and Jerry.
Honoring Jeff’s wishes, private services will be held at a later date.
