Joanne Himberg

Joanne “Joan” Marie Himberg, age 85 of Montello (Lake Puckaway) passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at her home. Joan was born in Milwaukee on September 19, 1940 to Gilbert and Leona (Zintera) Schallitz. She grew up in Milwaukee, but lived in several states as a Navy wife and later in life settled in the Lake Puckaway area for it’s beautiful scenery and warm friends. After relocating to Lake Puckaway, she was united in marriage to Allen “Al” Himberg on October 17, 2009 at The Log Cabin. Joan had several jobs throughout her working career, from Navy wife and mother of 5 to starting as a waitresses as a teen in her father’s different diners to cleaning and for many years as a deli clerk for local grocery stores. In her spare time, she enjoyed: fishing with Al, playing bingo and scratch-offs, team bowling and going with Al to country music festivals.

Joan is survived by her husband, Allen and daughter, Deborah (Edward) Bennett of Texas as well as two brothers Duwane (Karen) Schallitz and Daniel Schallitz and three stepdaughters: Renee (Albert) Jahnke, Nicole Clough and Kristina (Anthony) Gavitt. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren six great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, children: David, Christopher, Dean and Kelly as well as her brother, Dennis (Susan) Schallitz.

Joanne Himberg will be laid to rest on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Arlington Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Please meet at the main office at 2:30 PM.
