John Arenz

John 'Dick' R. Arenz, age 76, of Montello passed away Monday evening at the Montello Care Center. He was born in Fond du Lac on July 10, 1935 to John and June (Cleveland) Arenz. John valiantly served his country as a member of the United States Marines from 1954 until 1957 earning multiple service medals. He later married Patricia Miller on June 17, 1972 in Waukegan, IL and from that marriage came two children. John and Pat lived in the Markesan area while raising their family; it wasn't until 1998 that they moved to Montello. John liked being outside, he enjoyed gardening, taking care of animals and playing bingo. He was a life member of both American Legion Post 282 of Markesan and the Waupun VFW. Most of all, John loved his family and made sure that they were well cared for. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. John leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Pat and two children: Tricia (Jerome) Treptow of Fond du Lac and Matthew (fianci�½e, Florence) of Markesan as well as six grandchildren: Hallie, Jacob, John, Raven, Paris and Elizabeth and one great-grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by two brothers: Gerald 'Buzz' (Kathy) and Mike and one sister, Elaine Iwen, all of Fond du Lac. John is further survived by a step-daughter, Sharon (James) Ross and her children and grandchildren as well as his nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by his three siblings: Ronald, Norman and Joyce. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 453 E. Park Street, Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Dave Carrano will preside and full military honors will be performed immediately following the service by American Legion Post 351 of Montello. Inurnment will be private.
