John Boese Sr.

John Claude Boese Sr., age 85 of Oxford passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home.  John was born on October 12, 1938 in Chicago to Mary Boese.  He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.   John married Edith (Trappe) Stolte in Glen Ellyn Countryside, IL on December 26, 1987 and together they lived and worked in the Chicagoland area until retiring to Oxford in 1996.  Edith preceded him in death on August 18, 2019.

While in Illinois, John was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Gaylord Corporation. He then found the same type of work at Zinga in Reedsburg once they moved to Oxford.  He loved to fish, tinker and was very talented with his hands building many unique items for friends and family.  John was proud of his service to his country and was a devoted husband.   He will be remembered for his kindness, friendship, helping others, and a devoted husband and father. 

John is survived by two sons: Mark (Nyla) Stolte of Winfield, IL and Michael (Pam) Stolte of Wisconsin Dells, nine grandchildren: Mark Jr., Steven, Jacob, Sam, Matthew, Christopher, Tony, Lenny and Marie as well as great-grandchildren: Eric, Taylor, Bella, Mario, Lucy, Lilian, Tyler, Lia, Alaina and Maverick.  He is also survived by son-in-law, Rick (Jomay) LaCrosse of Oxford, daughter-in-law, Sylvia Boese of Oswego, IL as well as other extended family members.

John is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edith, son, John Boese Jr., grandson, Clayton Boese, daughter, Mary LaCrosse.

A memorial service for John Boese will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford.  The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and inurnment will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oakbrook, IL.
