John "Jack" Morse

October 9, 1933 — March 30, 2018

John “Jack” Wilbur Morse , age 84 of Oxford (formerly of the Town of Delafield) passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Montello Care Center.  John was born in Waukesha on October 9, 1933 to Wilbur and Grace (Schmidt) Morse.  He served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1956 until 1958.  John married Judith Mitwede on September 22, 1956 at St. Luke’s Church in Waukesha and together they raised their family in the Pewaukee Area; Judith preceded John in death on March 29, 1999.

John was employed at Interstate Drop Forge in Milwaukee for 39 years until he retired.  He served on the Town of Delafield Fire Department for 25 years, 5 of which were as fire chief.  After relocating to Oxford in 1996, John kept himself busy repairing chainsaws, lawn mowers, cutting down trees and lending a hand to whoever needed it.  He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and caring demeanor.

John is survived by his daughter, Susan Myhre of Oxford and son, Donald of Westfield, three grandchildren: Joshua, Donald Jr. and Heather as well as great-grandson, Bentley.  He is further survived by siblings: Joan (Robert)Grauvunder, Jean (John) Niemann, Joyce (Stan) Pavlons, Jill (Johnel) Dickerson, Jim (Joan), Jay (Margaret), Jerry (Judy) and Jeff (Rose) as well as many extended family members.

John is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judith, and sister, Judy.

In accordance with John’s wishes, services will be private.
