Joseph Nixa

Joseph Leroy Nixa, age 73 of Wautoma passed away Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Montello Care Center due to Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on August 27, 1951 to Charles and Alice (Hansen) Nixa in Racine. He graduated from Racine Park High School and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for over forty years at Gordon J. Maier & Co. becoming the head partner of the firm. He was involved in the community being on the crime stoppers board and part of Kiwanis West of Racine. Upon retirement he moved to Wautoma.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cathleen and four children: Charles (Marie), Erin Nixa, Benjamin, and Emily (Ted) Nixa Anderson as well as six grandchildren: Molly, Lexi (Marquis), Izzy, Delaney, Sofie and Declan. He is also survived by two sisters: Paula Johnson and Tina (Vern) Wegner.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws: DeWayne and Dorothy Tatum, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tatum, brother-in-law, Jim Johnson and three half siblings: Gene Nixa, Ken Nixa and Rita Luigie.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at a later date.
