Joyce Lueder

Joyce Lueder , age 87 of Montello passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield.  Joyce was born on September 10, 1934 in Milwaukee. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lueder and her parents, Joseph and Mae (Brierton) Borchers.

Joyce attended Carroll College where she met her husband, Bill; they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha on October 9, 1954.

Joyce was an at home mom before moving to Montello in 1964. She served two years as the Marquette County Day Care Director and Head Start teacher. Joyce then spent some time as a substitute teacher for Montello Elementary and Westfield Elementary Schools and then went on to teach in the Title I program at Oxford Elementary School for five years. She served for 15 years on the CAP-Literacy Board for 15 years, on the Marquette County Board for 11 years, and on the City of Montello Park Board for two years. In 1980, she and Bill bought the Rustic Inn and operated the establishment for several years.

In her spare time, she loved to read, knit, crochet, and have lunch with friends. She was also a former member of the Lioness Club and gave back to her community through organizing and participating in fundraisers.

Joyce leaves behind six children: Kim (Steve) Hesprich, Mike Lueder, Penny (Roy) Peyton, Greg (Barb) Lueder, Patty Stelter and Christopher Lueder. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19, Joyce’s family will be holding a private service with burial to follow at the Montello City Cemetery.  There will be no public visitation.  Donations in Joyce’s name are preferred to The Budda Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964.
