On Saturday, May 12, 2018, Karen (Richardson) Grant of Oxford found her peace. Karen was born March 6, 1943 to Gordon and Astrid Richardson in New York. On December 8, 1969 she married Lester “Butch” Grant. She lived in Oxford for most of her life up until the time of her passing and was a very active member of the community. Karen loved being able to spread Christmas cheer through her work with the Oxford Christmas Cheer Club. Karen helped Butch run Double G Farms for many years. She also owned and operated Mrs. G’s in Oxford, serving her loyal customers delicious sandwiches. Karen was very passionate about cooking. She always opened her home to friends and family for holidays and dinners. Later in life, when Karen was unable to cook, she gave Butch very, very detailed instructions on how to prepare their meals. Even then, she was still trying new recipes. Throughout the years, Karen was a constant figure and supporter of the Hubie’s, HBR, and Mrs. G’s men’s softball teams, as well as the Double G Farms women’s softball team. She had the honor of cheering on and watching many young men and women succeed at softball and at life. She loved boating, especially at Castle Rock, and bird-watching. Karen traveled to many places in the world and experienced many different cultures and cuisines. She saw many beautiful places while on Earth. Now she will be able to see them from above.
Karen leaves behind her best friend, traveling companion, and husband of 48 years, Lester “Butch” Grant. Karen’s world revolved around the three sons she leaves behind: Dustin (Kristin) Grant of Oxford, Shawn (Missy) Grant of Kansas City and Shannon (Tasha) Grant of Oxford. Karen loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than life itself. Grandchildren: Devon (Shanna) Grant, Nathan Grant, Savannah Grant, Nic Grant, Alexus Vaughn, Natalie Grant, Samuel Grant, Olivia Ciaroni and Gabriella Ciaroni. Great-grandchildren: Raelynn, Kendra, Teagan, and Raymond. She is also survived by her step-mother, Marion Richardson and sister, Ellen (Travis) Holt of Marshfield as well as many nieces and nephews. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Astrid Richardson, her sister, Sandie Lacey and her brother Brian Richardson.
Karen touched so many lives in her lifetime. Even though her body is no longer with us, memories of her, and what she meant to us, will live on in our hearts forever. To honor her request, there will be no funeral or services.
Crawford Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford and Montello is honored to be serving the family. www.CrawfordFH.com
