While attending college, Karen met her lifelong partner, Duaine L. Radtke. They were married in April 1964 in Berlin, Wisconsin, and shared 51 years of marriage. They were deeply devoted to one another and inseparable in daily life and in their commitment to family. They remained married until Duaine’s passing on May 27, 2015.

Karen trained and became a certified law enforcement officer before beginning her career with the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections, where she served as a Supervisor and ultimately retired as an Investigations Lieutenant on July 30, 1998. During her career, she was extensively involved in investigations and crisis negotiations, including training with the FBI’s negotiation teams.

Karen and Duaine raised two children, Kristine and Dylon. She was dedicated to her family and spent much of her time participating in family gatherings and events.

Karen had a deep and abiding love for animals. She raised and trained quarter horses, rescued dogs, and found joy in caring for animals of all kinds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duaine L. Radtke; her brother, Jack Stone; and her grandson, Aaron Johnson.

Karen will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and her unwavering dedication to those she loved. She built a life around family, loyalty, and care for others.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. A private family gathering will take place.

In lieu of flowers, Karen would have appreciated donations to animal rescue organizations.
