Kathleen “Kathy” A. Troost, age 81 of Montello passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 31, 2026 at her home. Kathy was born in Portage on June 21, 1945 to Robert and Mae (Teske) Bell. She graduated from Portage High School in 1963 and married Bryan Troost at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello on October 3, 1964. They moved to Milwaukee for a short time and returned to Montello to raise their three sons.
Kathy was employed at a local bank as a teller for many years. She was a longtime member of Crossroads Family Church in Wautoma and devoted herself to prayer. Kathy enjoyed birdwatching, baking, sewing and also filled her time making and doing crossword puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time will her family doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and board games. Kathy will be remembered for her love of gathering with her family at Christmas in her home.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bryan and three sons: Dan (Cheryl) of Montello, Tim (Jody Krohn) of Montello and Andy (Gina) of Lakeville, MN as well as five grandchildren: Kevin (Taryn), Chelsea (fiance, Deven Britigan), Mackenzie (fiance, Neil Bude), Cole and Elizabeth. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Camden and Lumen along with her favorite nephew, Richard Neustedter, her cat, Boots and other extended family members.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Bryan’s parents, Clarence and Helen Troost, sister, Marilee (Glen) Neustedter, niece, Laura Neustedter and nephew, Bob Neustedter.
A memorial service for Kathleen Troost will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Family Church in Wautoma. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Andy Bollant will preside and private family inurnment will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Marquette County Volunteer Cancer Organization, Budda-Box, P.O. Box 591, Montello, WI 53949.
