Kathryn Washa

Kathryn Irene Washa, age 78 of Montello passed away peacefully Monday evening, May 16, 2011 at Tivoli Nursing Home in Portage. She was born in Madison on February 13, 1933 to Edward and Pearl (West) Killerlain. She graduated from Madison Central High School in 1951 and married Francis 'Frank' Washa on February 9, 1952 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Castle Rock, WI. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2010. Kathryn enjoyed traveling with Frank; together they toured many parts of the country especially when the autumn leaves changed their color. She also liked flowers, hummingbirds and most of all spending time with her family. Kathryn was also member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Kathryn is survived by five children: James (Julie), Raymond, Karen (William) Schaefer, Daniel (Shelly), and Charles (Debra) as well as thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by four siblings: Mary (Don) Buchholz, Bernard (Vivian) Killerlain, Gerald Killerlain and Paul (Virginia) Killerlain. Kathryn is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws, other family members and many friends. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years, Frank, seven siblings: Leo, Richard, Phillip, Pat, Della 'Jean', Lois, and one infant sister as well as many brothers and sisters in law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Michael Richel will preside and burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is serving the family.
