Kay Mainguth

Kay Frances Mainguth, age 81 of Montello passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Kay was born in Ashland on July 23, 1945 to Edward and Marie (Schneider) Berweger. She grew up in Sanborn and graduated from Ashland High School in 1963 and married Ronald Mainguth on December 5, 1964. Together they moved to the Dane/Waunakee area where they resided for many years while raising their three children. In retirement, they traveled the country and eventually settled in Pecos, TX where she still remained a Green Bay Packers fan. Ron preceded Kay in death in 2020; Kay moved to Montello to be closer to family in 2022. Kay liked to garden, quilt and always kept herself busy with a crafting project or crossword puzzle.

Kay is survived by her three children: Danielle (Tim) Phelps of Ohio, Jim (Lori) Mainguth of Dane and Tracy (Jay) Lee of Montello as well as five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emily, Ryan, Zach and Evan. She is also survived by three brothers: Dale (Charmaine) Berwerger, Gary (Judy) Berwerger and Curt (Marie) Berwerger and other extended family members.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Diane (Tom) Waters.

A private celebration of Kay’s life is being planned for a later date.
