Kenneth Zellmer

Kenneth R. Zellmer, age 85 of Montello passed away peacefully at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg, Saturday evening, June 4, 2011. Ken was born in Ridgeville, WI on September 1, 1925 to Alvin and Meta (Schedler) Zellmer. Ken served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946. Following his time in the service, Ken was employed by Wisconsin Electric for 40 yrs in Milwaukee until he retired to the Montello area in the early 1980's. Ken was an avid Packers and Brewers fan; he also enjoyed his living on Buffalo Lake where he fished when his health allowed. Ken was also a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Ken is survived by two sons: Gerald (Judy) of Florida and Scott of Packwaukee as well as two step-children: Gary (Tammy) Ruhe and Sandy (Pete) Trbovich, both of Milwaukee. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Carol, Tim, Amy (Justin), Kate, Joe (Lisa), Shannon, Krista, Nikki, Melody and Becca. Ken is further survived by many great-grandchildren and a brother, Marvin (Joan) of Appleton. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, three wives: Jane Schmeider, Marion Ruhe and Florence Nau. His is also preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Rudolph and siblings: Harold and Arvilla (Gordon) Quammen. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello with Pastor Pete Zietlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Full military honors will immediately follow the service and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Highland Memorial Park in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to family. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is assisting the family with arrangements.
