Lorelei Steiskal

Lorelei Dawn Steiskal, age 61 of Oxford (formerly of Arkdale) passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 18, 2026 at her home. Lorelei was born in Chicago to Peter and Gloria (Gouras) Thompson on March 10, 1965. She moved to Monroe Center as a child and graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1983. Lorelei was united in marriage on September 20, 1986 at The Church Of All Religions in Big Flats to Edward “Ed” Steiskal. Together they resided in the Arkdale area for many years before relocating to Oxford in 2021.

Lorelei held several jobs throughout her working career; she enjoyed her time at the Adams County Animal Shelter and the time she spent working at the Castle Rock County Park. Lorelei liked the occasional trip to the casino and always looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her snappy personality, creativity and the love she had for her family and friends.

Lorelei is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Ed and two children: Christopher (Teresa) of Montello and BrandiLynn (Michael) Markart of Madison. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Ben, Amelia, Jed, Harry, Lillyen and Michael along with several other extended family members. Lorelei is preceded in death by her parents.

Private services for Lorelei will be held at a later date.
