Mabel Dunn

Mabel E. (Lange) Dunn, age 101, of Montello/Harrisville passed away peacefully at Harris Villa on Sunday evening, September 26, 2010. Mabel was born in Harrisville, Marquette County, WI to Gustav and Emma Lange on May 15, 1909. She graduated from Westfield High School and received her teaching degree from Stevens Point State College. She married Truman Dunn on June 3, 1946 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello, he preceded her in death on May 21, 1984. Her siblings: William (Laura) Lange, Albert (Linda) Lange, Elsa McNamara, Robert (Carolyn) Lange, Ernest (Elizabeth) Lange, and Lillie (Willis) Kleinert, and several nieces and nephews also preceded her in death. Mabel is survived by four generations of nephews, nieces, many dear friends and former students. Though Mabel never had children of her own, she touched the lives of many young children that she taught in Harrisville, Necedah and Montello. She was a respected primary grades teacher for a total of 56 years; ten of those years were spent as a substitute. Mabel remained active and independent well into her nineties. She always welcomed visitors into her Montello home and particularly enjoyed children. She knitted and crocheted countless gifts of mittens, sweaters and afghans. She was an active and devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Montello. Mabel will be fondly remembered for her vitality, generosity and concern for others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello with Father Richard Lesniak and Father Michel Richel officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Harris Villa, N6581 Villa Parkway, Westfield, WI 53964.
