Marcella Ernsting

Marcella C. Ernsting, age 89 of Montello passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2014 at The Residences on Forest Lane in Montello. She was born in Chicago to Gottfried and Anna (Frank) Melzer on December 30, 1924. She graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago in 1942. Marcella was united in marriage to Charles Ernsting on January 9, 1943; together they retired to Montello in 1983. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1988. Marcella was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Packwaukee. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed bowling as well as sewing. Marcella was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and loved her cat, Mittens. Most importantly her family meant the world to her. Marcella is survived by two daughters-in-law: Cynthia (Dennis) Willliams of Montello and Joan (David Sjodin) Ernsting of Carol Stream, Il as well as five grandsons: Michael (Andrea), Scotlond (Colleen), Timothy (Belinda), Thomas (Vanessa) and Charles (Michelle). She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Steven and Thomas, brother, Elmer and great-granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth. A funeral service for Marcella will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Packwaukee. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will continue on Monday, October 27th at Zion Lutheran Church in Bensenville, Illinois at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Marcella will be laid to rest next her husband and son at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Bensenville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church of Packwaukee or Zion Lutheran Church of Bensenville.
