Margaret Helm

Margaret Mae Helm, age 84 of Oxford passed away peacefully Thursday evening, August 29, 2013 at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship. Margaret was born in the town of Easton, Adams County to Paul and Gladys (Bisbee) Reichhoff on April 21, 1929. She graduated from Adams High School in 1947 and later married Robert "Bob" Helm in November of 1969. Together they owned and operated the laundromat and R& R Garage in Oxford for many years; Bob preceded her in death on July 22, 2006. Margaret was very caring and loyal person. She was a wonderful cook and one of her legacies was baking and decorating birthday cakes for all of her family. Margaret also enjoyed gardening as well as traveling with Bob while their health allowed. She loved her family very much, caring for her many grand and great-grandchildren; she was known as simply "Great" by most of them. Margaret will be missed by all who knew her. Margaret is survived by four children: Rob (Karen) Jenkins of Nekoosa, Patricia (Kim) Spaulding of Oxford, Judith (Elijah) Fugate of Midway, KY and Bruce Hall of Portage and one step-daughter, Janet (Daniel) Carter of Elgin, IL. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren as well as her daughter-in-law, Diane Helm. Margaret is further survived by three siblings: Dorothy (Hans) Menck, Francis "Red" Reichhoff and Wayne (Charlotte) Reichhoff as well as one sister-in-law, Audrey Reichhoff. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob, brother, Edwin Reichhoff, step-son, James Helm, grandson, Shane Fugate and sister-in-law, Betty Reichhoff. A memorial service for Margaret will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford (formerly The Oxford Funeral Home). Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Brenda Pulver will preside and following the service, inurnment will take place at the Oxford Village Cemetery.
