Marjorie Bednarek

May 9, 1933 — May 13, 2024

Montello

Marjorie Mae “Margie” (Lambert) Bednarek, age 91, of rural Montello passed on, on Monday, May 13, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born May 9, 1933, to Emma Emily (Oldenberg) and William Jacob Lambert in Bloomer.  Marjorie was united in marriage to Edmund Lawrence Bednarek, Jr. on September 29, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.  They were married for 57 years before Ed’s passing and blessed with seven children.

Margie was an avid gardener and grew food for the entire family for many years.  Margie also never met an animal or bird that she did not like. Margie was a stay-at-home Mom, also babysitting several cousins, for many years before driving a van for the Montello School District. She learned some sign language to communicate with one of the students that she drove to and from school.  Margie was also a Nanny to her second set of children, the Whitemarshs.

A favorite trip of Margie’s was the yearly fishing and camping trip to Gordon, Wisconsin.  She got to spend time with many family members and eat freshly caught fish every day!

Margie helped out at the Shields Town Hall during voting time.

Margie loved playing dominoes, cards, and assembling puzzles.  She played with her family every chance she had.  She enjoyed spending some winters in California with Ed, her sister Jean, her brother Bill, and other family members.  She later enjoyed spending some winters in South Carolina with her daughter, Julie and family.

Margie’s best days were spent with her family.   She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Margie leaves behind her children:  Beverly (Ian) McLaren of Shenandoah, Iowa, Jean Hoffman of Montello, Cathleen (David) Weiss of Montello, Michael Bednarek of Marquette, Julie (David) Hoover of Lexington, South Carolina, and Ronald Bednarek of Montello.  Margie is also survived by one sister:  Dorothy Jean Blythe, of Bloomer.  Margie is further survived by sisters-in-law: Florence Lambert of Bloomer and Phoebe Lambert of Redgranite.  Margie also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Andrew “Drew” Bednarek, son-in-law, Robert Hoffman, special “daughter”, Donna Holmes, granddaughter, Angela Gorsuch, brothers: William (Gloria) Lambert, Robert Lambert and Richard Lambert and brother-in-law, Dan Blythe.
