Marlin Zellmer

Marlin H. Zellmer, age 75 of Montello passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, January 22, 2014 at his home. Marlin was born in Montello to Paul and Irene (Pischke) Zellmer on July 6, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Montello High School and later married Barbara Groskreutz on December 13, 1958 in Milwaukee at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Marlin managed automotive service stations in the Milwaukee area from 1961 until 1986 and from 1987 until 2002 he was a salesman selling pressure washers. He was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on the audit committee and also sat on the Board of Directors for the Polka Hall of Fame. Marlin enjoyed: spending time in the woods, listening to polka music, traveling in his motorhome and feeding the birds. Without question the most important thing in Marlin's life was his family, those memories will never be forgotten.

Marlin leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Barbara and five children: Steve (Debra) of Oconomowoc, Scott (Jacqueline) of Richfield, John (Heidi) of Cedarburg, Jerry (Natalie) of Oconomowoc and Julie (Mark) Lynch of Slinger. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren: Stephanie (Craig) Lindsley, Sarah (Bryan) Witterholt, Stevie, Michael (Ariel), Daniel, Zach, Ben, Aaron, Jason (Becca), Nicole and Tyler Zellmer and Kayla and Lyndsay Lynch as well as six great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Brock, Sariah, Saranda, Ava and Hunter. Marlin is further survived by his brother, Paul (Lois) of Montello, sister, Carol (Paul) Koester of West Allis, sister-in-law, Alice Zellmer of Montello and many other relatives and dear friends.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Lloyd (Delores) and Howard.

A funeral service for Marlin will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will officiate and following the traditional service, Marlin will be cremated. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
