Mary Wachholz

Mary Elizabeth Wachholz, age 87 of Westfield passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2013 at Harris Villa Assisted Living in Westfield. Mary was born in Milford Center, OH on January 31, 1926 to Rev. Conrad and Elizabeth (Krentz) Wachholz. She graduated from North Olmsted High School in No. Olmsted, OH in 1944 and later graduated from Valparaiso University. She was Office Manager for Dumke and Associates, St. Joseph, MI. Mary visited her family in Westfield for many years; it wasn't until after her retirement in the 1980's that she moved there permanently. Mary enjoyed the outdoors, animals and also reading, but her greatest passion was music. She played the organ for many of the rural churches in the Westfield area and also for different senior citizen events. Mary was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Westfield and will always be remembered for her kind and caring spirit. She will be greatly missed. Mary is survived by six siblings: John (Esther) of Roanoke, VA, Magdalene Dumke of St. Joseph, MI, Edward of Scottsdale, AZ, Elenore Pipes of La Crescenta, CA, Helen Messerschmidt of Lake Zurich, IL and Ruth (Robert) MacPhail of Gurnee, IL. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Paul (Leone) Wachholz as well as brothers-in-law: Michael Dumke, Paul Pipes and Lester Messerschmidt and sister-in-law, Wilma Wachholz. She is also preceded in death by three nephews: Phillip Dumke, John A. Wachholz and Steven Pipes and one niece, Patricia Wachholz. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Gary H. Schultz will preside and burial will follow at the Westfield East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 210 S. Charles St., Westfield, WI 53964.
