Nina Herrmann Donnelley, age 81 of Montello died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Liberty House in Fond du Lac. She was born December 1, 1943 in Gettysburg, PA to Phillip and Sarah (Neely) Herrmann. She was married to James R. Donnelley on April 11, 1980 in Chicago, IL where they lived for 38 1/2 years until Mr. Donnelley's sudden death Sept. 25, 2018.
Mrs. Donnelley was an ordained Christian Minister (United Presbyterian USA) and served as a hospital chaplain at Children's Memorial Hospital then at The Rehabilitation Institute until her retirement in 2000. She was the author of two published books and a number of articles on death and dying.
Among survivors are two "inherited" daughters: Christina (Steve) VanDeventer and Whitney Harrington; brothers-in-law: Thomas (Barbi), Robert (Miranda) and David (Rachael) Donnelley; several cousins as well as friend and employee of immeasurable value, Joana (Curt Gast) Remeikiene. Nina is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a stepson, Niel Donnelley.
Nina loved life, people and animals. She helped many and supported numerous charities for many years. She touched many lives and will be greatly and genuinely missed. Nina also loved her dream farm near Montello where she enjoyed the peacefulness of nature and her small family of critters.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials if wished may be made to the Green Lake Area Animal Shelter in Green Lake, WI or the Big Shoulders Fund in Chicago.
