Paul Bernard Schwochert, age 94 of Montello, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Paul was born in Montello on October 30, 1928 to Frank and Nona (Pahl) Schwochert. He never married but lived a very fulfilling life.
Paul served his country as a member of the United States Army. Upon returning from his time in service, he took a job with the Wisconsin DNR where he worked for 34 years until he retired in 1984. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello and also a Princeton Knights of Columbus member. Paul gave a lot of his time and himself to the church doing different projects and serving on different committees, he will be greatly missed. Paul also had a great passion for traveling, reading, growing flowers, hunting as well as fishing.
Paul is survived by his sister, Rita Campbell and two sisters-in-law: Citana and Dorothy as well as many nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers: John, Richard (Catherine), Theodore (Helen), Daniel (Nancy) and Ray and brother-in-law, Ellwood “Woody” Campbell.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Schwochert will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 until 10:45 AM. Father Savio Yerasani will preside and burial with full military honors by American Legion Post #351 of Montello will follow the service at the parish cemetery.
